Cal State LA Athletics

2018-19: Played well for the Golden Eagles in his one year with the program. Appeared in 27 games and started seven times. Played a total of 447 minutes. Averaged 8.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. Was second on the team in rebounding and sixth in scoring. Had a season-high 24 points and 10 rebounds in an 85-75 win at Cal State Monterey Bay (12-16-18). Was named California Collegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 10-16. Had a season-high 12 rebounds and a season-high seven assists to go along with eight points in a 123-61 win over Bethesda (12-7-18). Reached double figures in scoring eight times and in rebounding three times, Had one double-double. 

At El Camino Compton College: Earned first-team All-State and All-Conference honors and was named as one of the top 100 junior college players in 2016-17. Also earned the school’s Male Performer of the Year after hitting a buzzer-beating basket to win a game at Cerritos.

At Chaffey College: Was on a team that was a state finalist.

At Upland High School: Earned All-Baseline League honors twice. Competed in football and basketball.

Personal: Son of Lashay Ellis. Majoring in Pan African Studies. Enjoys playing basketball and watching movies with his kids. Lists winning 15 straight games by 20 points or more, making history and winning the conference championship for the first time in 20 years at El Camino Compton College as his most exciting experiences in sports.
