Cal State LA Athletics

2012: Had a strong season for the Golden Eagles in her one year with the track and field program. Finished 11th in the steeplechase at the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships. Had best marks of 5:00.24 in the 1,500 meters, 10:53.71 in the 3,000, 11:48.25 in the steeplechase and 18:49.59 in the 5,000.

2011: Had an impressive first season with the Cal State L.A. cross country program in the fall. Competed in all six events for the Golden Eagles. Was a top-five scorer in the Golden Eagles’ final two meets. Finished 55^th in the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships with a 6,000-meter time of 23:12.1. Helped the Golden Eagles to a third-place team finish. Placed 94^th in the NCAA West Regionals with a  time of 24:08.0.

At Riverside City College: Helped team finish second in conference in cross country and placed 10^th in the conference. Earned second-team All-Conference honors. Helped team finish first in the conference in track and field. Was sixth in the 1,500 meters and sixth in the 10,000 in the conference finals.

At Santiago High School: Earned second-team All-League honors in track and field as part of the 4x400 relay team. Also competed in softball and basketball. Graduated with High Honors.

Personal: Daughter of Richard and Sonya Vaughn. Majoring in studio art. Enjoys running, painting and cycling. Lists taking first in the conference as a team at RCC in track and field as her most exciting experience in sports. Favorite quote is: “your eyes show the strength of your soul.”
