Golden Eagles Post More Good Marks In Azusa

AZUSA -- Cal State LA's men's and women's track and field teams had another eventful day on the final day of the Franson Last Chance Meet on Saturday at Azusa Pacific.

Summer Stevenson, the California Collegiate Athletic Association champion in the triple jump, finished second in that event on Saturday with a new season's best mark of 42-4. That mark is No. 2 all-time on the outdoor top-10 list. Stevenson moved past indoor national champion Jonon Young's outdoor best of 42-3.25 and is just four inches behind the outdoor record of 42-8 set by Angel Carver in 1995. Young holds the indoor record at 43-3.25.

Stevenson also ran with Ski'lar Wallace, Emmerson Wiggins and Keiasja Carbins in the 4x100 relay and the quartet finished fourth with a time of 47.04, which is a new season's best.

Dalia Romo was fourth in the 400 hurdles with a personal best mark of 60.23, which improves her NCAA provisional qualifying mark.

For the men, CCAA champion Nicholas Aninze improved his provisional qualifying mark in the 400 hurdles with a second-place finish in 51.18. That mark is No. 6 all-time at Cal State LA.

Wallace Aflamah won the 100 meters with a time of 10.40 for the top men's performance. The 4x100 relay team of Drew Hill, Aflamah, Jaylend Howard and Akeem Murph was second in 40.90, which is just off its season's best.

The Golden Eagles will take their final shots at qualifying for the NCAA Championships on Sunday at the Cal State LA Very Last Chance Meet at Jesse Owens Track. The meet will begin at 9 a.m.
