LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's baseball team got another well-pitched game from
Alejandro Huezo and picked up a series-opening win against Westcliff.
Huezo pitched seven strong innings to improve to 4-0 and the Golden Eagles beat the Warriors, 10-3, Friday night at Reeder Field. Cal State LA (9-7) got three hits each from
Alberto Prado and
Kadyn Victorian and another home run from
Omar Gonzalez in the victory.
Huezo allowed five hits and only one earned run over seven innings with one walk and five strikeouts.
Chris Lozano and
Jared Robles each tossed a scoreless inning to wrap things up.
Gonzalez got the Golden Eagles off and running with a solo home run in the second innings, his team-leading sixth home run of the season. Prado went 3-for-5 with three RBI for the Golden Eagles and Victorian went 3-for-5 with three runs and two RBI.

Omar Gonzalez, and
Ethan Gonzalez had two hits each.
After
Omar Gonzalez gave the Golden Eagles a 1-0 lead in the second inning,
Jonathan Manuel delivered a sacrifice fly in the third inning to make it 2-0.
The Warriors (9-10) tied it with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth, but the Golden Eagles responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning to retake the lead. Victorian grounded out to drive in a run, while Chavez smacked a two-run double. Penuelas got on board with a bunt single to load the bases and kick-start the inning.
Prado reached on an infield single to drive in a run in the sixth and
Ben Lee drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 7-2.
After the Warriors closed to within 7-3 with an unearned run in the seventh, Victorian doubled in a run in the bottom of the inning and Prado belted a two-run triple to complete the scoring.
Cal State LA will conclude the brief two-game series with Westcliff on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Reeder Field.
