GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO -- Cal State LA's women's tennis team concluded play Friday at the ITA West Regional hosted by Colorado Mesa.
Sarah Olmos completed an impressive singles performance with a hard-fought loss to No. 8 Mihoki Miyahara of Hawaii Pacific, 6-1, 5-7, 10-1 in the main draw Round of 16. Olmos did a fantastic job battling back from an opening-set loss to force a third-set tiebreaker.
In the consolation bracket Round of 16, Sakura Kurakawa beat
Savaughna Mayo in a battle of Cal State LA players, 8-3,
Hideka Takamura beat Rachel Whittingham of Point Loma, 8-1 and
Alexandra Hincu fell to Amanda Letzring of Point Loma, 8-3.
In the consolation quarterfinals, Kurakawa fell to Angelique Friedrich, 8-3 and Takamura fell to Kambra Roles of Metro State, 8-0.
In consolation doubles, Mayo and
Courtlyn Lam fell to Thelma Sepulveda and Joelle Lanz of Point Loma, 8-6.
Cal State LA will return to action in the CSUNÂ Fall Invitational at Cal State Northridge on Nov. 11.Â
