FRESNO -- Cal State LA's women's tennis team finished its three-day Fresno trip with a hard-fought battle against Stanislaus State.
The Golden Eagles dropped a hotly contested doubles point and managed a pair of singles wins in a 5-2 setback to the Warriors at Fresno Pacific's Haak Tennis Center.Â
Cal State LA (1-10) got singles wins at No. 1 and No. 6 singles and a close call at No. 2 singles in the match against Stanislaus State (6-6).
Maldini Simic and
Sofia Pavlova earned a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles, but
Mane Sargsyan and
Macy Hinds fell at No. 2 doubles and
Hideka Takamura and
Georgiana Parr fell at No. 3 doubles, 6-4.
Pavlova won her match, 7-6, 6-4, at No. 1 singles over Emma Yu and Hinds won her match at No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-2, over Emi Mikami.
Simic had the match of the day, forcing a third-set tiebreaker at No. 2 singles before Abbigail Mulick prevailed, 7-6, 3-6, (10-8). Parr fell at No. 3 singles to Katarine Damjaer, 6-3, 7-5, Sargsyan fell at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0 and
Ainoha Salo fell at No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-2.
Cal State LA will return to action on Wednesday in its home finale against Azusa Pacific.Â
