IRVINE -- Cal State LA's beach volleyball team completed its 2019 season on Saturday with a split of two matches.

Led once again by No. 1 pairs Karla Santos and Alejandra Negron, the Golden Eagles posted a 3-2 win over San Diego Mesa and then fell to Concordia-Irvine, 4-1. Santos and Negron won both matches and finished the season riding a five-match winning streak and with 10 wins in their last 11 matches.

The Golden Eagles also got wins against San Diego Mesa from No. 2 pair Janessa Mata and Jessica Kaeka and from No. 5 pair Caitlyn Bato and Adriana Maldonado.

Cal State LA (5-11) opened the day with the win over San Diego Mesa (13-11). Santos and Negron won their match, 21-19, 21-12, Mata and Kaeka won their match, 21-13, 21-18 and Bato and Maldonado won their match, 21-18, 21-16. Victoria Duarte and Jeshmarie Suarez battled at No. 4 pairs in a 12-21, 21-11, 15-12 loss, while Sifa Faaiu and Daisy Crenshaw fell at No. 3 pairs, 21-9, 21-11.

Against Concordia, Santos and Negron pulled out a three-set win, 22-20, 17-21, 15-13. Mata and Kaeka were also involved in a three-set match that went down to the wire in a tight 21-17, 19-21, 15-13 decision for Concordia.
