NORTHRIDGE -- Karla Santos and Alejandra Negron picked up a pair of wins Thursday as Cal State LA's beach volleyball team returned to the sand courts at Cal State Northridge.

Santos and Negron, playing at No. 1 pairs, captured two victories in three-set contests against Cal State Northridge and Marymount California at the Matador Beach Volleyball Complex. Cal State LA (4-9) wound up dropping 4-1 decisions to both opponents on Thursday.

Santos and Negron opened the day with a 21-18, 19-21, 15-12 victory over Cal State Northridge's top pair of Daniella Molinari and Seyvion Waggoner. They then rallied in their second match to pull out a 13-21, 22-20, 15-8 win over Aiko Waters and Jaylyn Porras of Marymount California.

The Golden Eagles dropped the other eight contests in straight sets, although the teams of Janessa Mata and Jessica Kaeka, Daisy Crenshaw and Sifa Faaiu, Victoria Duarte and Jeshmarie Suarez and Caitlyn Bato and Adriana Maldonado played well during the back-to-back contests.

Cal State LA will return to action with a match against Vanguard on Friday at 10 a.m. in Huntington Beach.
