LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's baseball team put a frustrating day behind them and put on an offensive showcase on Sunday.
The Golden Eagles, after a pair of one-run losses to San Francisco State on Saturday, exploded for 11 runs in the sixth and seventh innings and posted a 14-3 victory at Reeder Field to earn a split of the four-game California Collegiate Athletic Association series. Cal State LA (14-15, 13-12 CCAA) had 14 hits on Sunday and backed an outstanding seven-inning starting performance from
Alec Daily.
The Golden Eagles hosted an inaugural Veterans Appreciaton Game and welcomed Cal State LA military veterans, service members and their families. The U.S. Army ROTC Bruin Battalion led the posting of the colors and Angela Lincoln-Manuel sang a beautiful rendition of our National Anthem.
Daily, who picked up his third win of the season, didn't allow a hit over the first four innings and gave up just six hits and two earned runs in his seven-inning outing.
Miguel Garcia and
Jackson Bond finished up with two scoreless innings of relief.
The Golden Eagles were tied, 3-3, heading into the bottom of the sixth before putting six runs on the board to take the lead. They then added five more runs in the seventh to put the game out of reach.
Tyler Odekirk went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and one RBI, while
Adam Gordon was 2-for-4 with three runs RBI.
Jordan Myrow had a pair of hits and two RBI,

The Golden Eagles scored single runs in the second and third innings to take a 2-1 lead. Myrow doubled to lead off the second and scored when
Jordan Peabody reached on an error and
Noe Garcia scored on a sacrifice fly by
Adam Gordon in the third. Harris hit a solo home run leading off the fifth for the Gators and San Francisco State tied it later in the inning on a run-scoring double by Jason Hare.
Cal State LA regained the lead in the bottom of the fifth on a run-scoring double by Gordon. A dropped foul pop-up led to an unearned run by the Gators that tied the game in the top of the sixth. Given a reprieve, Robinson picked up an infield single and came around to score on a triple by Riley Cleary.
The Golden Eagles, though, took control of the game in the bottom of the inning, taking advantage of a throwing error on a fielder's choice and eventually scoring six times. Peabody scored on the errant throw to give the Golden Eagles the lead and Sandoval delivered a two-out single to center to make it 5-3. Sandoval stole second and scored on a single by Odekirk to make it 6-3 and Odekirk came around to score on a single by Gordon to make it 7-3. Myrow lined a two-run double into the left-field corner to give the Golden Eagles a 9-3 advantage.
Alam doubled,
Michael Tillman was hit by a pitch and
Noe Garcia singled to load the bases in the seventh. Sandoval reached on an error that allowed a pair of runs to score and
Spencer Sundahl later had a two-run double.
Anthony Moreno walked with the bases loaded to force in another run.
Cal State LA will return to action on Friday in the opener of a four-game series at Sonoma State.
