REDONDO BEACH -- Cal State LA's beach volleyball team picked up its second straight win Friday on the sand at Redondo Beach.
The Golden Eagles picked up their 5-0 victory, capturing three of the five matches in three-set battles against Marymount University. Cal State LA (4-6) has won three of its last four matches.
Karla Santos and
Alejandra Negron continued their outstanding play with a 21-8, 21-9 victory at No. 1 pairs.
Caitlyn Bato and
Adriana Maldonado also won their match at No. 5 pairs in straight sets, 21-18, 21-14.
The other three contests needed three sets to be decided.
Janessa Mata and
Jessica Kaeka rallied after dropping the first set in an exciting 17-21, 21-17, 20-18 win at No. 2 pairs in the longest and closest battle of the day.
Sifa Faaiu and
Daisy Crenshaw posted a 21-14, 19-21, 15-11 win at No. 3 pairs and
Victoria Duarte and
Jeshmarie Suarez recorded a 21-14, 19-21, 15-9 win at No. 4 pairs.
Cal State LA will return to action on Friday, March 29, in a match against Marymount.
