TURLOCK -- Cal State LA's women's tennis team picked up a big road win Friday at Stanislaus State.
The Golden Eagles took all three doubles points and then five of six singles matches to earn an 8-1 win over the Warriors. Cal State LA (4-6) won its second straight match.
The Golden Eagles picked up wins in all three doubles contests with tight battles secured at the top two spots.
Elizaveta Sokolova and
Amanda Schneider were victorious at No. 1 doubles over Cassidy Ferrell and Kayla Nguyen, 8-6,. and
Isabella Lopez and
Luciana Di Laura pulled out an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles over Megan Hagerty and Taylor Galya.
Mariko Sagara and
Chelsey Ruiz beat Milianna Profit and Ebone Qualls, 8-1, at No. 3 doubles.
The Golden Eagles then earned five points in singles with straight-set victories. Schneider beat Nguyen, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 2 singles, Di Laura beat Profit at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-0, Lopez beat Hagerty, 7-6, 6-2, at No. 4 singles, Sagara beat Galya, 6-1, 7-5, at No. 5 singles and Ruiz beat Qualls at No. 6 singles, 6-3, 6-3.
Cal State LA will return to action on Saturday at Academy of Art in a match that has been moved to a 11 a.m. in an effort to beat the rain.
