Summary

Biography

2021-22: Was a key contributor once again for the Golden Eagles in her final year with the program. Had an 8-7 record in singles and won seven of her last eight matches, including a key victory at No. 5 singles to give the Golden Eagles a 4-2 win in the PacWest Conference championships. Also had a 1-3 record in doubles. For her career, had a 47-29 record in singles, including a 41-22 mark in dual matches. Also had a 31-26 in doubles.

2020-21: Contributed to Cal State LA earning an ITA All-Academic Team Award from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Team did not compete due to COVID-19.

2019-20: Was having a third strong season for the Golden Eagles when it was halted. Had an 8-6 overall record in singles, including a 4-5 mark in dual matches. Moved up to No. 3 singles, where she was 3-5. Had a 1-0 mark at No. 2 singles. Won her last three singles contests before the season was halted. Had a 4-1 record in tournament play and won all three of her matches at the CSUN Fall Invitational. Had a 7-4 record in doubles, including a 5-0 mark at No. 2 doubles with Berta Acero. Was also 1-2 at No. 1 doubles with Amanda Schneider.

2018-19: Had an outstanding second season with the Golden Eagles as a sophomore. Had an overall record of 15-7 record in singles, including a 14-4 mark in dual matches. Earned third-team All-PacWest Conference honors and was named the PacWest Player of the Week on March 26. Scored the match-winning point in a 4-3 victory over Concordia to earn the weekly honor. Finished the season ranked 18th in singles in the NCAA Division II West Region. Played the majority of her matches at No. 5 singles, where she went 13-3. Also had one match at No. 4 singles and one match at No. 6 singles. Was also 9-9 in dual matches in doubles.

2017-18: Had a successful first season with the Golden Eagles as a freshman. Had a 16-9 overall record in singles, including a team-best 15-6 mark in dual matches. Had a 2-0 record at No. 4 singles, a 7-4 record at No. 5 singles and a 6-2 record at No. 6 singles. Also had a 14-10 overall record in doubles with three different partners. Had an 11-6 overall record and a 9-5 record at No. 3 doubles with partner Mariko Sagara.

At Bullard High School: Placed individually in CIF all four years in high school and won a CIF singles championship as a junior. Earned all-league honors in singles and doubles all four years in high school. Was the Female Athlete of the Year for her high school and a team Most Valuable Player for three years.

Personal: Daughter of Jorge Ruiz and Mayra Mendoza. Majoring in business management with a minor in marketing. Enjoys coaching, playing all sports, and hanging out with her friends and her dog. Lists clinching a 4-3 win over Concordia and beating a player on one of the top teams in the nation as her most exciting experiences in sports.
