LA MIRADA -- Cal State LA's nationally-ranked women's tennis team bounced back on Tuesday with a big win over Biola.
The Golden Eagles, ranked 15th in the NCAA Division II, rebounded from a disappointing loss to Westmont on Saturday with a 9-0 win over the Eagles in a match between PacWest Conference foes in La Mirada.
Elizaveta Sokolova led the way with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Esther Lee at No. 1 singles and teamed with
Amanda Schneider for an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles over Lee and Tinisee Kandakai. Schneider beat Kandakai at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-3.
The Golden Eagles swept the three doubles contests to set the tone.
Isabella Lopez and
Luciana Di Laura posted an 8-5 win over Lauren Lee and Madison Swaney at No. 2 doubles and
Chelsey Ruiz and
Mariko Sagara beat Allison Torres and Lily Waterhouse at No. 3 doubles, 8-1.
Lopez beat Swaney at No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-2, Di Laura beat Lee at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-3, Sagara won at No. 5 singles over Waterhouse, 6-0, 6-2 and Ruiz beat Torres at No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-2.
Cal State LA will return to action with its home opener against Azusa Pacific next Monday.
