NEWPORT BEACH -- Cal State LA's women's tennis team came up on the short end of an extremely close match against Concordia on Tuesday.
The Golden Eagles dropped two of three doubles matches and then split six singles contests in a 5-4 loss to the Eagles. Three of the six singles contests went three sets and one of the doubles points was decided by an 8-7 score.
Chelsey Ruiz and 
Mariko Sagara combined for three points for the Golden Eagles. Ruiz won her match at No. 5 singles, 6-4, 6-4, over Ghada Al-Ajeely and Sagara won her match at No. 6 singles, 6-4, 6-1, over Kathrine Jensen. Ruiz and Sagara teamed up for an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles over Ashley Glick and Haley Diefenbach.
Luciana Di Laura won her match at No. 3 singles in a three-set battle, 3-6, 6-2, 6-1, over Concordia's Johanna Keeline.
Both 
Elizaveta Sokolova at No. 1 singles and 
Isabella Lopez at No. 4 singles lost in three-set matches and 
Amanda Schneider at No. 2 singles lost a tight two-set battle.
Cal State LA will return to action on Wednesday, March 7, with a home match against Dominican at 1:30 p.m.
