Box Score CARSON -- Cal State L.A.'s baseball team got another outstanding start from

Montgomery gave up a leadoff single in the ninth and then got the final three outs via flyouts for his second save of the season.
Cal State L.A. was limited to just four hits, all of them singles.

The Golden Eagles then loaded the bases in the eighth on a one-out single by
Manny Acosta, a two-out single by
Scott Masik and a walk to
Jeremy Weber, but
James Wharton was called out on strikes to end the threat.

The Toros got their first run in the third on a two-out single by Ivory Thomas and added one in the sixth when Chris Allen's sacrifice fly followed the three bunt singles.
The Golden Eagles got out of some difficulty in the eighth when Garcia fielded a grounder off the bat of Hayden Maurice and threw out Kevin Logan at the plate. Logan was trying to score from third.
Cal State L.A. left seven runners on base, while Cal State Dominguez Hills left six.
Cal State L.A. will continue the series with a single game at Cal State Dominguez Hills on Friday beginning at 3 p.m.
