Cal State L.A. took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Masik singled up the middle and scored on a one-out double by James Wharton. The Golden Eagles made it 4-0 in the fourth on a run-scoring single by Garcia and a two-run triple by Weber.

After the Broncos closed to within 4-2 with runs in the fifth and sixth innings, the Golden Eagles scored four times in the bottom of the sixth. Christian doubled, moved to third on a single by Cooperstone and scored on a fielder's choice groundout by Garcia. Weber followed with a single and Masik delivered a run-scoring single to make it 6-2. Ryan had a run-scoring single to make it 7-2 and Cody Doyle picked up an infield single to make it 8-2.

Weber drove in the final run for the Golden Eagles with a groundout in the seventh.

In the nightcap, Cal Poly Pomona got an outstanding start from Kevin Bossan, who allowed only five hits and three runs over six innings. He didn't walk a batter and struck out four.

Cal State L.A. took a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Doyle singled, took second on a wild pitch and took third on a single by Christian. Cooperstone then hit into a double play while Doyle scored.

The Golden Eagles scored the final two runs of the game in the fourth. Doyle was hit by a pitch with two outs to start the rally. Christian followed with a single and Cooperstone drove Doyle home with a single to make it 2-0. Christian later scored on a wild pitch to make it 3-0.

Quintero was masterful and was only in serious trouble once when he loaded the bases with two outs in the third. He got out of the jam by inducing a grounder to Cooperstone at second.

He had two runners on base with nobody out in the seventh, but got a pop-up and double play grounder to end the game.

Cal State L.A. will return to action on Friday night in the opener of a four-game series against Cal State Monterey Bay at Reeder Field.
