GLENDALE, AZ -- Cal State L.A.'s women's tennis team got its three-day, four-match trip to Arizona off to a good start.

The Golden Eagles won all three doubles matches and then took all six singles contests in straight sets to post a 9-0 victory over Dixie State on Thursday. Cal State L.A. (3-0), ranked 15th in the NCAA Division II, recorded its third consecutive shutout.

Christie Lau and Leora Hemmerich got the Golden Eagles off to a quick start with an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles over Dixie State's Joy Naigeon and Paige Nisson. Tiffani Shaik and Sydney Postal won at No. 2 doubles, 8-2, over Ashley Anderson and Sierra Smith, while Jill Sangria and Samantha Sismundo won at No. 3 doubles, 8-4, over Anna Cronquist and Lindsey Jones.

Lau recorded a 6-1, 6-2 win over Naigeon at No. 1 singles, Hemmerich beat Nisson, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2 singles, Sangria won at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0, over Anderson, Shaik won at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0, over Smith, Tiffany Leung won at No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-3, over Jones and Sismundo won at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0, over Cronquist.

Cal State L.A. will continue play in Arizona on Friday with a match against Grand Canyon.
