Summary

Biography

2013: Had another tremendous season for the Golden Eagles in her final year with the program. Earned All-America honors for a second straight season after finishing seventh for a second year in a row in the discus. Earned All-West Region honors in the discus for a second time. Won a California Collegiate Athletic Association championship in the discus and earned All-CCAA honors in the javelin after placing third. Had best marks of 162-5 in the discus and 133-0 in the javelin. Won two conference championships and five All-CCAA awards in her two years. For her career, had best marks of 41-10 in the shot put, 162-5 in the discus and 140-2 in the javelin. Finished her career No. 7 all-time at Cal State L.A. in the discus and No. 10 in the javelin.
 
2012:
Had a sensational first season with the Golden Eagle program. Earned All-America honors in the discus by finishing seventh in the nation. Also competed in nationals in the javelin. Won the California Collegiate Athletic Association championship in the javelin on her final throw with a season’s-best toss of 140-2. Also finished second in the conference in the discus and third in the shot put to earn All-CCAA honors in three events. Earned All-West Region honors in the discus from the USTFCCCA. Had best marks of 160-6 in the discus, 140-2 in the javelin and 41-10 in the shot put.

At Riverside Community College: Was the state junior college champion in the discus in 2010 and set a new meet record with a throw of 168-3. Was the only junior college thrower to top 160 feet in the nation that year. Earned RCC’s Most Valuable Athlete award in 2010. Was the conference champion in the javelin and earned regional championships in the discus and javelin in 2010.

At Temescal Canyon High School: Competed in basketball and track and field. Earned the Top Thrower award from 2006-08 and was the Southwestern League champion in the discus in 2008. Earned All-CIF second-team honors in 2007-08 and was the MVP of the basketball team in 2008 after averaging 17.8 points per game.

Personal: Daughter of Camilio and Jannette Gutierrez. Majoring in social work. Enjoys street ball, body surfing, wake boarding, any type of sporting event and yoga. Lists winning the CCAA title in the javelin on her last throw as her most exciting experience in sports. Says she has two older brothers, who both graduated from college. One is a big-time rugby player and weight-lifter and the other plays recreational football. Says she comes from an athletic family.
