Biography

2013: Had a sensational final season with the Cal State L.A. track and field program. Finished second in the nation in the 1,500 meters while recording the program's best-ever finish in that event. Earned All-America honors in that event for a second straight year. Earned All-West Region honors in the 1,500 and 5,000. Won California Collegiate Athletic Association championships in the 1,500 and 5,000 and was named the CCAA Female Track Athlete of the Year. Was named the CCAA Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year and earned third-team CoSIDA Academic All-America honors. Earned first-team CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 honors for a second straight year. Earned the department's 2012-13 Billie Jean King Award as Cal State L.A.'s top female athlete. Also excelled during indoor track and finished second in the nation in the mile, earning All-America honors. Set a new program record with a time of 4:49.61 in the finals. Had a previous best time of 4:56.78 and had the 13th-fastest time in the field entering nationals. Earned All-West Region honors as well in the mile. For her career, had best marks of 2:11.37 in the 800, 4:25.31 in the 1,500, 9:49.60 in the 3,000 and 16:26.49 in the 5,000 in outdoor track and 4:49.61 in the mile in indoor track. Earned a total of three All-America awards in track and field, six All-West Region awards, two CCAA championships and six All-CCAA awards in track and field. Finished her career No. 2 all-time in the 1,500 in outdoor track. Set new program records in the indoor mile and as part of the distance medley team that had a time of 11:49.77. Also part of a distance medley team that is No. 3 all-time with a mark of 12:00.73. Also earned All-CCAA and All-West Region honors in cross country and earned first-team All-Region and All-CCAA honors in soccer.

2012: Had a tremendous second season with the Cal State L.A. track and field team in the spring. Earned All-America honors in the 1,500 meters and recorded the program’s second-fastest time ever in that event (4:25.70). Earned All-CCAA honors in two events after finishing second in the 1,500 and third in the 800. Also had best times of 2:16.86 in the 800, 10:05.17 in the 3,000 and 16:57.77 in the 5,000. Earned a CoSIDA Academic All-District award, received a CCAA All-Academic Award and earned All-Academic honors from the USTFCCCA . Earned All-West Region honors from the USTFCCCA in indoor track in the mile and as part of the distance medley relay team. Qualified for nationals and ran with the distance medley relay team that finished ninth in the country. Ran cross country for the first time in the fall and had a sensational season. Earned All-CCAA honors after finishing fifth with a time of 22:12.3 over a 6,000-meter course. Followed that up by earning All-West Region honors after finishing 10th with a time of 22:04.8. Earned CCAA Runner of the Week honors after placing second on the UC San Diego Triton Classic with a time of 22:14.6. Shared Cal State L.A.'s Exceptional Student-Athlete of the Year Award (female) for 2011-12.

2011: Had an outstanding first season with Cal State L.A.’s track and field program. Earned All-CCAA honors in two events after finishing second in the 1,500 meters and third in the 800 at the conference championships. Had the team’s best times in the 1,500 (4:39.04), 3,000 (10:02.39) and 5,000 (17:22.69) and had the squad’s second-best time in the 800 (2:16.31). Earned a Division II Athletics Directors Association Academic Achievement Award and a CCAA All-Academic Award. Had a second outstanding season with Cal State L.A.’s women’s soccer team in the fall and led the team in scoring with eight goals, two assists and 18 points. Earned first-team All-West Region and first-team All-CCAA honors. Scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Seattle Pacific in a second-round NCAA playoff game. Team reached NCAA West Region championship match and finished the year ranked 12th in the country after compiling a 13-4-4 overall record. Earned CCAA Player of the Week honors for the week of Aug. 29 – Sept. 4 after posting goals in wins over St. Martin’s and Grand Canyon. Was named the team’s Most Valuable Offensive Player.

2010: Competed well for Cal State L.A.’s women’s soccer team. Was fifth on the team in scoring with three goals and six assists for 12 points. Played in all 20 games for the Golden Eagles and helped the team post a 15-4-1 overall record and win the CCAA South Division title for a second straight season.

At Northwood University: Had two outstanding seasons for the NAIA program. Scored 26 goals and was the Sun-Conference Offensive Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year in 2008. Also had 12 assists for a total of 64 points. Was third in the nation in goals scored. Followed that up with 18 goals in 2009. Was named third-team All-American in 2008 and earned All-America honorable mention in 2009. Earned first-team All-Conference honors both seasons.

At Sven Erikson Gymnasiet: Earned the Most Deserving Student Academic Award.

Personal: Daughter of Bengt and Marianne Gruden Ohberg. Majoring in business administration. Enjoys friends, family and working out. Lists competing at nationals and in the Swedish Championships for track and field as her most exciting experiences in sports.
