Biography

2013: Had a second outstanding season for the Golden Eagles in her final year with the indoor track and field team. Earned All-West Region honors in the 3,000. Had best marks of 5:02.35 in the mile and 10:00.44 in the 3,000. For her career, had best marks of 2:15.19 in the 800, 4:57.23 in the mile and 10:00.44 in the 3,000. Finished her career as the program record-holder in the 3,000 and was also part of the No. 1 and No. 2 distance medley teams of all-time at Cal State L.A. Also finished her career No. 4 all-time in the 800 and No. 4 all-time in the mile.

2012: Competed for the Golden Eagles in indoor track and had a strong season. Earned All-West Region honors from the USTFCCCA in the 800 and mile and as part of the distance medley relay team. Qualified for nationals as part of the distance medley relay team and finished ninth in the country. Had best times of 2:15.19 in the 800 and 4:57.23 in the mile. Both times were NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks.

At Cal State Bakersfield: Set a program record in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:26.92 and was named the Roadrunner of the Year in 2011. Also owns the school’s No. 3 best time in the 800 meters at 2:11.69. Was named the school’s outstanding graduate of the year, earning a chemistry degree in 2011.

At Riverside Community College: Earned All-America honors in 2009 in track and field and All-State honors in 2008. Was the team’s Most Valuable Runner in 2008. Finished sixth in the state in the 1,500 in 2008 and fourth in state in 2009. Was on the President’s Academic Honor Roll.

At Rancho Verde High School: Competed in cross country and track and field. Was the team MVP in cross country in 2006 and earned the Coach’s Award in cross country and track and field in 2006-07. Was a Scholar-Athlete from 2005-07 and was on the President’s Honor Roll from 2005-07.

Personal: Daughter of Felix Celis and Josefina Luna. Pursuing a graduate degree in biochemistry. Enjoys reading and dancing. Lists breaking the school record at Cal State Bakersfield in the 1,500, winning the UC Riverside Invitational 5,000 and running at the Division I Track and Field Regionals in Oregon as her most exciting experiences in sports.  Is the S.U.R.G.E. President and an A.S.I. Graduate Academic Senator at Cal State L.A.
