Biography

2015-16: Had another outstanding season for the Golden Eagles in his fourth and final year with the program. Started all 29 games and led the team once again with 1,012 minutes played. Averaged 12.9 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. Was second on the team in scoring. Led the team in steals with 56 and was second in assists with 50. Was named California Collegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 22-28 after leading the Golden Eagles to wins over Stanislaus State and Chico State and into the CCAA Tournament. Tied a career-high with 24 points at Washington State (11-24-15). Also had 22 points at Stanislaus State (1-1-16). Had a season-high nine rebounds at Northwest Nazarene (11-21-15). Reached double figures in scoring 20 times and scored 20 or more points four times. For his career, appeared in 109 games with 92 starts. Played a total of 3,163 minutes. Averaged 9.2 points and 3.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.5 steals per game. Tied the program record with 109 games played and finished No. 2 all-time with 160 steals. Became the 20th player in program history to score more than 1,000 points..

2014-15: Had a third productive season for the Golden Eagles and was once again one of the best players on the team. Was second on the team in scoring with 8.7 points per game and led the team in minutes played with 806. Started all 26 games for the Golden Eagles and played hard through injuries for much of the season. Played in every game for Cal State L.A. for the third straight season and averaged a career-best 31 minutes per game. Had a season-high 17 points in a win over San Francisco State (2-27-15). Also had 16 points in a win at Cal State Monterey Bay (1-9-15). Reached double figures in scoring 11 times. Was named the team’s Most Improved Player.

2013-14: Had a second strong season for the Golden Eagles and was one of the top contributors on the team. Played in all 27 games for a second straight season and started 10 times. Averaged 5.8 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. Was one of the team’s top defenders once again. Was fourth on the team in scoring and fourth in 3-pointers made with 16. Led the team in free-throw percentage (77.3 percent). Poured in a career-high 24 points to lead the Golden Eagles to a win at Cal State Dominguez Hills (12-22-13). Also had a career-high eight assists in that game. Reached double figures in scoring five times. Had a late steal and made two tiebreaking free throws in the final seconds of a 59-57 win over Sonoma State (1-4-14).

2012-13: Had an outstanding first season with the Golden Eagles and was one of the best freshmen in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. Started all 27 games and averaged nearly 29 minutes per game. Was third on the team in scoring, second in steals, second in assists and second in free-throw percentage. Led the team in 3-pointers made with 33. Averaged 9.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.4 steals per game. Made 72.3 percent of his free throws. Was one of the team’s top defenders. Scored a season-high 20 points in a win over Cal State Monterey Bay (1-5-13). Also had 19 points in season-opening win over La Sierra. Had 16 points in a road win at UC San Diego (11-30-12). Had a season-high nine rebounds to go along with 15 points in a win over Cal State Stanislaus (1-19-13).

At Long Beach Poly High School: Helped team reach CIF 1AA championship game for a second straight season as a senior and averaged 6.8 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. Was part of a CIF Championship team as a junior and was named the team’s Defensive Player of the Year. Received first-team All-Moore League honors and also earned the Willie McGinest Scholar-Athlete Award.

Personal: Son of Crystal Barker. Majoring in business administration-finance. Enjoys bowling, video games and music. Lists winning a CIF championship during his junior year as his most exciting experience in sports.
