Summary

Biography

2010: Had another outstanding season for the Golden Eagles and completed her historic four-year career with the program. Had 14 goals and 10 assists for 38 points. Played a total of 1,518 minutes. Set a new program record for goals in a season and had the second-highest point total in a singles season in program history. Earned second-team All-America honors from National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Earned first-team All-West Region honors from the NSCAA and second-team All-West Region honors from Daktronics. Earned first-team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors and made the CCAA All-Tournament team. Recorded two hat tricks during the season. Had three goals and one assist in a 4-0 win over Cal State Monterey Bay on Sept. 19 and had three goals in a 4-3 win over Cal Poly Pomona on Oct. 31. Scored the game-tying goal with one minute left in regulation and got the game-winner with four minutes left in the second overtime. Had a goal and two assists in a 6-0 win at Cal State East Bay and had goals in back-to-back games at Cal Poly Pomona on Sept. 24 and Cal State San Bernardino on Sept. 26. Also had a goal and an assist in a 4-1 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills on Oct. 20 and had the final goal of her career in a 1-1 with San Francisco State in the CCAA Tournament championship game on Nov. 7. Earned the department's 2010-11 Billie Jean King Award as Cal State L.A.'s top female athlete, winning the honor for a second straight season. For her career, appeared in 83 games and started 67 times. Played a total of 4,787 minutes. Had 32 goals and 40 assists for a total of 104 points. Finished her career No. 2 in goals, No. 1 in assists and No. 1 in total points and No. 1 in games played in program history.

2009: Put together a record-breaking season in her third year with the Golden Eagles. Became Cal State L.A.’s first All-American in women’s soccer and was named the Daktronics West Region Player of the Year. Was also selected the California Collegiate Athletic Association’s Offensive Player of the Year. Set a new conference record for assists in a season with 17 and set new Cal State L.A. single-season program records for assists and total points (43). Led the team as well in goals with 13, which tied the single-season record. Had four goals and one assist in the CCAA Championship Tournament and was named the Tournament’s Most Outstanding Offensive Player. Recorded her first career hat trick and added an assist in a 4-0 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills in the championship match on Nov. 8. Also added a pair of goals and an assist against Cal State East Bay on Oct. 16. Was named the CCAA Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 12-18 following that performance. Led the team with six game-winning goals, including a goal in the second overtime against Cal State Stanislaus on Sept. 27 and one late in regulation at Cal Poly Pomona on Oct. 4. Had two assists in four separate games. Earned the 2009-10 Billie Jean King award as Cal State L.A.’s top female athlete and was named the team’s Attacking Player of the Year for a second straight season. Holds Cal State L.A. career record for assists (30) and is No. 2 in points (66) and No. 4 in goals (18).
 
2008: Enjoyed a sensational second year with the Golden Eagles. Earned All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honorable mention. Led the team in scoring with four goals and nine assists and 17 total points. Was tremendous down the stretch for the Golden Eagles, accumulating eight points with two goals and four assists in the final four games of the season. Had one goal and two assists in a 3-1 win over Cal Poly Pomona on Oct. 24. Assisted on both goals in a 2-1 win over Cal State San Bernardino on Oct. 26 and added a goal in a 5-2 loss at Seattle Pacific on Nov. 1. Had a goal and an assist in a 3-1 win at Humboldt State on Sept. 26 and picked up two assists in a 4-1 win over Chico State on Oct. 3. Started all 19 games for the Golden Eagles. Was named the team’s Attacking Player of the Year.
 
2007: Had an outstanding first season with the Golden Eagles. Appeared in 22 games and started six times. Scored one goal and had four assists for a total of six points. After the two teams battled to a scoreless tie through regulation and two overtime periods, had the deciding penalty kick to lift Cal State L.A. past Seattle University and into the NCAA Division II Far West Regional championship match. Picked up the game-winning goal in double overtime of a 1-0 win over Grand Canyon on Oct. 7. Had two assists in her Cal State L.A. debut against Saint Martin’s on Aug. 23.
 
At El Camino High School: Was a four-year varsity player. Earned first-team All-Avocado League honors as a junior and senior and second-team honors as a freshman and sophomore. Was the team Most Valuable Player as a senior, the Best Offensive Player as a junior and received the Coaches’ Award as a sophomore and freshman. Also played varsity tennis for three years. Earned student-athlete honors award as a senior.
Personal: Daughter of Juan Sanchez and Rosa Franco. Majoring in communications. Enjoys Sudoku, hiking, road trips, tennis, reading and music. Lists meeting amazing soccer players along the way as her most exciting experience in sports. Thanks God and her family for giving her strength and support throughout her soccer career. Club team won a state cup championship in 2006, was a State Cup finalist in 2007 and a National Cup finalist in 2008.
