Summary

Biography

2020: Had an outstanding season with the Golden Eagles' indoor track and field team in her final year with the program. Had the team's best time in the 400 with a mark of 58.59, which was her career best indoors. Was part of a 4x400 relay team that ranks No. 8 all-time at Cal State LA with a time of 3:57.49. For her career, had best marks of 59.98 in the 400 hurdles, 15.04 in the 100 hurdles and 58.70 in the 400 in outdoor track. Finished her career No. 5 all-time at Cal State LA in the 400 hurdles. Also had best marks of 27.19 in the 200, 58.59 in the 400 and 9.30 in the 60 hurdles in indoor track. Finished her career No. 8 all-time in the 60 hurdles.

2019: Had a tremendous second season with the Golden Eagles’ track and field team. Qualified for the NCAA Division II Championships and finished 15th in the nation in the 400 hurdles. Earned All-West Region honors in the 400 hurdles. Finished third in the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships in the 400 hurdles and earned All-CCAA recognition. Time of 59.98 qualified her for nationals and is the No. 5 time in program history. Was also fourth in the 4x400 relay at the conference meet. Had the team’s fastest time in the 400 with a mark of 58.38. Competed for Cal State LA’s indoor track and field team and had best times of 58.70 in the 400 and 9.30 in the 60 hurdles. The 60 hurdle time is No. 8 all-time at Cal State LA. Also competed in two meets for Cal State LA’s cross country team in the fall. Had a best time of 22:06.18 over 5,000 meters at the Coyote Challenge on Sept. 21.

2018: Had an outstanding first season for the Golden Eagles’ track and field team. Finished eighth in the CCAA 100 hurdles and was 10th in the 400 hurdles prelims. Had best times of 15.04 in the 100 hurdles and 62.04 in the 400 hurdles. Also competed in indoor track and field and had a best time of 27.19 in the 200. Competed in three meets for Cal State LA’s cross country team in the fall. Had a best time of 22:17.1 in the 5,000 meters and 28:02.3 over 6,000. Finished 179th in the NCAA Division II West Regionals.

At Southwestern College: Earned the PCAC Athlete of the Year award and the team Most Valuable Player in track and field. Was also the Most Improved Runner on the cross country team. Was a two-time All-American in the 400 hurdles.

At Hilltop High School: Competed in track and field, cross country, swimming and cheer. Was a two-time team Most Valuable Player and a Rookie of the Year in track and field. Was the Outstanding Senior in cheer.

Personal: Daughter of Max and Rosalva Smith. Majoring in exercise science. Enjoys napping, eating and outdoor adventures. Lists competing at the NCAA Division II Championships in the 400 hurdles in Kingsville, Texas as her most exciting experience in sports.
