Summary

Biography

2020: Ran well once again for the track and field program in the spring (2020). Had the team's best mark in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:48.67 at the Long Beach State Beach Opener on March 7. Season was halted after three meets. Also had a best time of 2:21.43 in the 800 meters during the indoor season. That mark was a career-best indoors. Earned a 2019-20 California Collegiate Athletic Association All-Academic Award and a 2020 CCAA Spring All-Academic Award. For her career, had best marks of 2:18.39 in the 800 and 4:48.67 in the 1,500 in outdoor track and 2:21.43 in the 800 in indoor track. Finished her career No. 10 all-time in the indoor 800 and was No. 7 all-time as part of the distance medley team.

2019: Had an outstanding first season for Cal State LA’s track and field team. Placed seventh in the 800 in the CCAA Championships with a season’s best time of 2:18.39. Also had the team’s best time in the 1,500 with a mark of 4:51.81. Also competed for Cal State LA’s indoor track and field team and had a best time of 2:25.97 in the 800. Earned a 2018-19 CCAA All-Academic Award and a 2019 CCAA Spring All-Academic Award. Competed for a second season with the Cal State LA cross country team in the fall. Ran in all seven meets for the Golden Eagles. Was 88th at the CCAA Championships with a time of 25:34.30 over 6,000 meters and placed 183rd at the NCAA Division II West Regionals with a time of 26:41.5 over 6,000 meters. Earned a 2019 CCAA Fall All-Academic Award.

2018: Competed for Cal State LA’s cross country team in the fall and was one of the team’s top runners. Finished 21st in her first race for the Golden Eagles at the Redlands Invitational with a time of 18:48.5 over 4,500 meters. Finished 81st in the CCAA Championships and was the team’s No. 2 runner with a time of 24:55.1 over 6,000 meters. Was also the team’s No. 2 runner at the NCAA Division II West Regionals and finished 155th with a time of 24:53.2 over 6,000 meters.

At Cerritos College: Was named the Most Valuable Player in both cross country and track and field as a sophomore. Finished seventh in the state in the 1,500 as a freshman in 4:51.37 and took first place in the Southern California prelims. Took ninth place in cross country in the conference finals as a sophomore. Was on the Dean’s List two years in a row.

At Buena Park High School: Was a Freeway League champion in the 800 three years in a row. Was second in the 1,500. Earned first-team All-League honors in track and field three years in a row. Was the team Most Valuable Player in cross country and track and field and was a team captain. Received an Academic Athletic Award for maintaining a 4.0 grade point average while competing in sports.

Personal: Daughter of Mark and Glenda Harris. Majoring in nursing. Enjoys going to the beach, hanging out with friends, drawing and dancing. Lists making it to conference prelims and getting a PR in the 800 and then getting another PR the next day in the finals as her most exciting experience in sports. Said it gave her a lot of confidence and made her feel like all her hard work had finally paid off.
