2012: Had a strong final season for the Golden Eagles to complete a four-year career with the program. Had best marks of 42-1.25 in the shot put, 126-0 in the discus and 95-7 in the hammer throw. Finished 14th in the California Collegiate Athletic Association in the shot put and 17th in the hammer. For his career, had best marks of 42-1.25 in the shot put, 126-0 in the discus and 95-7 in the hammer.

2011: Threw well once again for the Golden Eagles as a junior. Had best marks of 41-0.25 in the shot put, 123-1 in the discus and 73-7 in the hammer throw for Cal State L.A. Competed in the shot put, discus and hammer throw at the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships.
 
2010: Had a second strong season for the Golden Eagles. Had best marks of 38-7.75 in the shot put and 116-1 in the discus. Recorded both marks at the CCAA Championships.
 
2009: Had a solid first season for the Golden Eagles. Had best marks of 41-3 in the shot put and 112-0 in the discus. Competed in both events for Cal State L.A. at the CCAA Championships.
 
At La Salle High School: Earned All-CIF honors in football and is the No.2 all-time shot put thrower. Earned All-State honors in both sports.
 
Personal: Son of Ole Carlos and Carmen Merino. Majoring in fire administration. Enjoys being outdoors or at the lake. Lists making it to state in track and field in high school as his most exciting experience in sports.
