LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's men's soccer team remains in the United Soccer Coaches national rankings for a fourth straight week in a poll released on Tuesday.
The Golden Eagles went from No. 12 to No. 21 after a 0-0 tie at Cal State Dominguez Hills on Saturday in Carson. Cal State LA (3-0-4) ran its unbeaten streak to seven straight games with its third consecutive tie. All three ties have come away from home, where the Golden Eagles are 3-0-1 so far this season.
Cal State LA has continued an impressive streak of appearances in the national rankings by appearing in the top-25Â in all four regular-season polls this season. Cal State LA was ranked 11th in the nation in the preseason poll and then jumped all the way up to No. 2 after home wins over Fresno Pacific and Hawaii Hilo to open the season. Cal State LA moved to No. 5 after a tie with Seattle Pacific and a win over Western Washington to end a four-game homestand, went to No. 12 after a pair of ties in Colorado and then to No. 21 after the tie with the Toros last weekend.
Cal State LA spent several weeks ranked as high as No. 2 last season and has now been ranked first or second for six consecutive seasons. The Golden Eagles have reached the top-10 in seven straight seasons and 16 of the past 18 seasons. They have also made an appearance in a national poll in 20 straight seasons, a streak that started in 2005. Â
Defending national champion Lynn is No. 1 for the fourth straight poll, while Stanislaus State of the California Collegiate Athletic Association remains second and is 6-0. Cal Poly Pomona moved up to No. 11 after a win last week over Cal State San Bernardino, which is now No. 25, giving the CCAA four teams in the top-25.
Cal State LA begins CCAA play on Friday with a road game at UC Merced. The Golden Eagles will then face Stanislaus State in the FloCollege/CCAA Game of the Week on Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
