No. 5 Golden Eagles Earn Another Tie In Colorado

DENVER, COLORADO -- Cal State LA's men's soccer team earned its second straight tie in Colorado after a hard-fought battle at MSU Denver on Sunday.

The No. 5 Golden Eagles took a 1-0 lead late in the first half on a goal by Ignacio Moreno, but the Roadrunners got the equalizer on a second-half penalty kick and the game ended in a 1-1 tie.

Cal State LA (3-0-3) remained unbeaten on the season after its third tie in its last four games. MSU Denver (1-2-3) also recorded its third tie already this season.

Moreno gave the Golden Eagles a 1-0 lead in the 42nd minute with his first goal of the season and the second of his Cal State LA career. Hunter Devlin had the assist, the first of his Golden Eagle career.

MSU Denver, though, was awarded a penalty kick in the 54th minute and Adan Perez converted with his second goal of the season to tie it.

Cal State LA had a 10-8 advantage in shots and a 7-2 edge in corner kicks. The Golden Eagles had a 6-4 shot advantage in the second half and a 3-1 edge in corner kicks in the second half.

Brayden McClelland made two saves in goal for the Golden Eagles. Moreno, Devlin and Sergio Vega had two shots each for Cal State LA.

Cal State LA will return to action on Saturday with a designated non-conference game at Cal State Dominguez Hills.
