LA MIRADA -- Cal State LA's women's tennis team completed play in the ITA West Regional Championships on Friday at Biola.

Sofia Pavlova had the best tournament run for the Golden Eagles, advancing to the quarterfinals in singles and also in doubles with partner Maldini Simic. 

Pavlova beat No. 7 seed Karola Suviste, 6-3, 7-5, in the Round of 16 to reach the quarterfinals. She retired in her final match against No. 2 seed Alina Kupfer of Point Loma, 6-2, 3-0 (ret.).

Pavlova and Simic fell in their quarterfinal doubles match to Suviste and Stina Larsson, the No. 4 seeds, 8-4.

In consolation singles matches, Macy Hinds fell to Liska Knight of Westmont, 8-4 and Hideka Takamura fell to Margarita Munoz of Fresno Pacific, 8-4.

Cal State LA will return to action in the UC Irvine Fall Tournament beginning on Oct. 31.
