LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's
Qwintin Workman has been named the California Collegiate Athletic Association's Men's Track Athlete of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Workman had a sensational showing at the Redlands Invitational on Saturday and had a part in two NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks.
First, he made a stunning Cal State LA debut in the 400 hurdles, winning the race in 51.02. That mark is No. 1 in the nation and No. 5 all-time at Cal State LA. It is also a career-best for Workman, who had a best time of 52.30 in that event at El Camino College. He was the school's Male Athlete of the Year and finished his career in the all-time top-10.
Later in the meet, Workman was a part of Cal State LA's 4x400 relay team that won the event and set a provisional qualifying mark of 3:13.60. That time is currently No. 3 in the nation.
Cal State LA will return to action this weekend with meets at UCLA and Cal State San Marcos.
