RIVERSIDE -- Cal State LA's women's track and field team had some strong performances Friday in its last competition before the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships.
Javany McDermott placed in the top-10 in three events to lead the Golden Eagles at the Chris Rinne Twilight Meet on the campus of the UC Riverside. McDermott finished fourth in the triple jump, fifth in the high jump and eighth in the long jump with marks close to her season's best in all three events. She was fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 36-8.50, fifth in the high jump with a mark of 5-1 and eighth in the long jump with a mark of 17-0.75.
Dericka Braden had a fifth-place finish with a time of 58.55 and she also had the team's top time in the 200 with a mark of 26.16.
Ja'Narie Rhambo was sixth in the hammer with a mark of 148-0,
Mya Ferguson was sixth in the 100 hurdles with a time of 14.40 and
Pamela Grissom was eighth in the shot put with a mark of 39-8.50.
Cal State LA's 4x100 relay team was fourth with a time of 48.08.
Cal State LA will return to action on Thursday, May 5 in the first day of the three-day CCAA Championships at San Francisco State.
