DALY CITY -- Cal State LA's women's tennis team saw its winning streak come to an end Saturday against Academy of Art at the San Francisco Bay Club.
The Golden Eagles dropped a 6-1 decision to the Urban Knights. snapping their three-match winning streak. Cal State LA (4-6) lost the doubles point and Academy of Art (7-5) won five of the six singles matches to secure the win.
Cal State LA's lone point came at No. 4 singles, where
Berta Acero posted a straight-sets win over Erica Hellbe, 6-4, 6-4.
The closest match of the day came at No. 5 singles where
Chelsey Ruiz was edged by Academy of Art's Julia Ortega, 7-5, 2-6, 10-8.
Noa Davico fell at No. 1 singles to Yun "Nicole" Shiau, 6-2, 6-2,
Sarah Olmos fell at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-1, to Maria Casucci, Sakura Kurakawa fell at No. 3 singles to Viktoria Leth, 6-2, 7-5 and
Courtlyn Lam fell at No. 6 singles to Paulina Alvarez, 7-5, 6-4.
Cal State LA will return to action on Wednesday with a home match against Azusa Pacific at 1:30 p.m.
