TURLOCK -- Cal State LA's women's tennis team got its two-match road trip off to a strong start Thursday at Stanislaus State.
The Golden Eagles captured the doubles point and then won five of the six singles contests to post a 6-1 victory over the Warriors at the Stan State Tennis Courts. Cal State LA (4-5) won its third straight match with the victory over Stanislaus State (4-7).
Cal State LA took an early advantage by securing the doubles point. The No. 1 team of
Berta Acero and
Sarah Olmos beat Stanislaus State's Amber Huk and Sylvana Talamantes, 6-2, and the No. 2 team of
Noa Davico and
Sakura Kurokawa beat Annabelle Mulick and Alyssa Tay, 6-2.
Savaughna Mayo and
Courtlyn Lam were down, 4-3, to Stanislaus State's Kate Bolton and Maya Young when the point was clinched so their match was unfinished.
The Golden Eagles then took five singles contests to complete the win.Â
Olmos beat Mulick, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 2 singles, Kurokawa beat Bolton, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 3 singles, Acero beat Talamantes, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 4 singles,
Chelsey Ruiz beat Tay, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 5 singles and Lam rallied to beat Young, 0-6, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 6 singles.
Cal State LA will conclude its trip on Saturday with a match at Academy of Art beginning at noon.
