LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's men's soccer team definitely made a for dramatic milestone victory for legendary head coach

David Elizaga got the game-winner in the first minute of the second overtime period and Cal State LA edged Biola, 3-2, to give Chamides his 200th win as head coach of the men's program. Chamides also has 103 wins as the women's head coach from 2003-12 and is both programs' winningest head coach.
Chamides, who guided the Golden Eagles to West Region championships in 2011 and 2014 and back-to-back California Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament titles, has the Golden Eagles ranked in the top-10 nationally for the 11th time in the past 13 seasons.
The Golden Eagles were stunned by a pair of late Biola goals that wiped out a 2-0 lead and made for the thrilling conclusion. Cal State LA had only conceded one goal in its first four games, but Biola got goals in the 68th minute and 89th minute to send the game into overtime. Cal State LA had a 6-0 edge in shots in the first overtime period, but couldn't score. In the second overtime period, a cross from
Daniel Simonis into the box was beautifully headed into the goal by
David Elizaga, who picked up his third goal of the season and set off the celebration.
Cal State LA (5-0), ranked seventh in the nation in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll, had a 23-8 edge in shots, including a 7-0 advantage in the extra time.
Cal State LA got goals from
Tim Klefisch,
Morten Bjoershol and Elizaga and a pair of assists from Simonis.
The Golden Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the 40th minute on a free kick by Klefisch that was headed for the goal in a crowd in front of the net and glanced in off a defender.
Bjoershol made it 2-0 in the 52nd minute when he headed in a corner kick by Simonis.
At that point, Cal State LA seemed in full control, but Biola had other thoughts. The Eagles (1-4-1) made it 2-1 in the 68th minute when Jack Kilgallon headed in a cross from Leo Thompson in front of the net.
Then, in the 89th minute, Thompson was able to work his way around the defense and sent a spectacular, curving shot from just inside the box that found its way just inside the far post to tie it up and send the game into overtime.
After several decent looks in the first overtime, the Golden Eagles struck for the winning goal via Elizaga.

Alexander Brems made a pair of saves, while Biola goalkeeper JD Gunn made eight saves.
Robin Lindahl and Bjoershol each had a match-high five shots for the Golden Eagles, while Elizaga had four.
Cal State LA will open conference play on Friday with a home match against Stanislaus State at 4:30 p.m.
