LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's baseball team had its offense clicking in the opener of a four-game California Collegiate Athletic Association series against San Francisco State.
The Golden Eagles pounded out 16 hits and beat the first-place Gators, 9-3, Friday night at Reeder Field. Cal State LA (13-13, 12-10 CCAA) won its ninth game in its last 10 contests, while San Francisco State (14-4-1, 12-4 CCAA) held onto first place in the conference despite the loss.
Nate Alam went 3-for-5 with three runs scored for the Golden Eagles, while
Noe Garcia was 2-for-3 with three runs batted in.

Spencer Sundahl,
Jordan Peabody and
Michael Tillman each had two hits for Cal State LA.
Trevor Rogers had a pair of hits and drove in all three runs for the Gators.
Micah Hee pitched six strong innings for the Golden Eagles, allowing five hits and one earned run while walking two and striking out six.
Austin Nazabal was outstanding in three innings of relief, allowing three hits and an unearned run while striking out four to pick up the save. Hee improved to 5-0 with the win, while Nazabal picked up his first career save.
The Golden Eagles struck for two runs in the second inning and never looked back.
Jordan Myrow was hit by a pitch, moved to second on a balk, to third on a groundout and scored when Alam reached on an error. Tillman then doubled and Alam came around to score when the left fielder bobbled the ball near the fence.
San Francisco State cut the deficit in half in the third inning on a sacrifice fly by Rogers, but Cal State LA rebounded with three runs in the fourth to break the game open.
Alam singled to start the inning and Tillman reached second on an error. Garcia hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Alam and Odekirk followed with a single to move Tillman to third and both runners scored on a two-run double by
Adam Gordon to make it 5-1.
Cal State LA added another run in the fifth on a single by Myrow, a bunt single by Peabody, a single by Alam and a run-scoring single by Garcia.
San Francisco State turned four double-plays in the first five innings to stay within striking distance.
The Gators made it 6-2 in the fifth on a run-scoring double by Rogers that drove in Riley Cleary, but Cal State LA responded with three more runs in the seventh.
Peabody, Alam and Tillman all singled to load the bases and Peabody scored on a balk to make it 7-2. Garcia drove in a second run with a groundout and Sundahl singled in a run later in the inning.
Cal State LA will continue the series with San Francisco State on Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
