CLAREMONT -- Cal State LA's women's tennis team picked up a big win Saturday against NCAA Division III power Pomona-Pitzer.
The Golden Eagles picked up two points in doubles and split the six singles contests to post a 5-4 win over the Sagehens in Claremont. Cal State LA (2-1) played under the Division III format, which awards points for each doubles contest.
Isabella Lopez and
Luciana Di Laura won at No. 1 doubles, 8-5, and
Mariko Sagara and
Berta Acero Garcia won at No. 3 doubles, 8-3.
In singles, the Golden Eagles picked up the fifth and deciding point when Sagara beat Alex Fenny at No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-4. Di Laura won at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-4, over Arriana Chen and Acero won at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-0.
Cal State LA will return to action on Monday with a home match against Biola beginning at 1:30 p.m.
