LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's women's tennis team got back on track against an NCAA Division II West Region opponent on Friday.
The Golden Eagles won all three doubles contests and took all six singles matches in straight sets to record a 9-0 victory over Dixie State University at the Cal State LA Tennis Complex. Cal State LA (4-3) was coming off a hard-fought loss to Division I Cal State Fullerton on Wednesday.
The Golden Eagles got strong play on Friday throughout their lineup.
Nozomi Matsuoka and
Iris Raileanu won at No. 1 doubles, 8-5, over Dixie State's Karolin Kukaras and Lacey Hancock,
Elizaveta Sokolova and
Isabella Lopez beat Jenna Fosdick and Laura Hartle at No. 2 doubles, 8-3, and
Kayleigh Hall and
Pyper Brown beat Samantha Yacano and Kaylee Tarver at No. 3 doubles, 8-1.
Matsuoka beat Kukaras at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-2, Sokolova beat Hancock, 6-4, 6-0, at No. 2 singles, Hall beat Hartle at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-1, Brown beat Fosdick at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0, Lopez beat Yacano at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-2 and
Snezana Ivanovic beat Kaylee Tarver at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Cal State LA will return to action on Saturday with a big road match at UC San Diego.
