LOS ANGELES -- Cal State LA's women's tennis got off to a good start and then had an even better finish Saturday in its match against Stanislaus State.
The Golden Eagles won two of the three doubles contests and swept the six singles matches to post an 8-1 win over the Warriors at the Cal State LA Tennis Complex. Cal State LA (3-2), ranked 16th in the nation, won all six singles matches in straight sets.
The Golden Eagles, who lost all three doubles matches in a tight 5-4 loss to No. 14 Azusa Pacific on Monday, picked up two doubles points on Saturday.
Elizaveta Sokolova and
Isabella Lopez won at No. 2 doubles, 8-6, over Stanislaus State's J'Ana Diamond and Lamella Belgica, while
Kayleigh Hall and
Pyper Brown defeated Stanislaus State's Ebone Qualls and Analyssa Talles, 8-4, at No. 3 doubles.
Cal State LA then played well in the six singles contests.
Nozomi Matsuoka beat Jaella Conway, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 1 singles, Sokolova beat Diamond, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 2 singles, Hall beat Cassidy Ferrell, 7-6, 6-2, at No. 3 singles,
Iris Raileanu beat Qualls at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-2, Brown beat Lamella Belgica at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-3 and
Snezana Ivanovic beat Tallas, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 6 singles.
Cal State LA will return to action on Wednesday with a match at Division I Cal State Fullerton at 1:30 p.m.
