COSTA MESA -- Cal State LA's women's tennis team rebounded nicely from its draining loss to Point Loma on Wednesday with a hard-fought win over Concordia on Friday.

Nozomi Matsuoka and Elizaveta Sokolova bounced from first-set losses at No. 1 and No. 2 singles to lead the No. 16 Golden Eagles to a 7-2 win over Concordia at the Costa Mesa Tennis Club. Cal State LA (2-1) jumped ahead with wins in two of the three doubles contests and took five of the six singles matches. Four of the singles wins took three sets with Cal State LA rallying after losing the first set in three of them.

Matsuoka, who lost an extremely close match against Point Loma, lost the first set to Concordia's Ivana Vlakic and trailed 5-0 in the second before storming back for a 4-6, 7-5 (10-7) win at No. 1 singles. Sokolova, who also lost a tight three-set match on Wednesday, dropped the first set on Friday to Concordia's Samantha Schuster before posting an impressive 4-6, 6-1, 6-0 victory. Isabella Lopez also had a nice comeback in a 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles over Paris Lee, while Iris Raileanu battled back from a second-set setback to record a 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 win over Johanna Keeline at No. 4 singles.

Kayleigh Hall won her match at No. 3 singles in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, over Luisa Sterkel.

The Golden Eagles won two of three tightly-contested doubles matches. Matsuoka and Raileanu prevailed at No. 1 doubles, 8-6, while Sokolova and Lopez won at No. 2 doubles, 8-5. Hall and Pyper Brown were edged at No. 3 doubles, 9-7, by Vlakic and Kelsey Markle.

Cal State LA will return to action on Monday with a home match against No. 14 Azusa Pacific at 1:30 p.m.
