NAMPA, Idaho -- Cal State LA's men's basketball team staged a dramatic comeback that just missed making a memorable result against Northwest Nazarene.

Cal State LA started well and opened up an 8-3 lead in the first four minutes thanks to baskets by Miles and Munzon and two straight buckets from Frid. Northwest Nazarene, though, went on a 22-5 run to take a 25-13 lead midway through the period. Cal State LA trailed 27-15 before going on a 16-2 run that ended on a basket by Dushon Carter that gave the Golden Eagles a 31-29 lead. Northwest Nazarene regained a four-point lead, but a 3-pointer by Munzon made it 35-34 at halftime.

An early basket by Miles kept the margin at 37-36, but Northwest Nazarene went on an 8-0 run to extend its lead. A three-point play by Andre McPhail pulled the Golden Eagles to within 45-44 with 14 minutes left and a 3-pointer by Munzon tied it at 47-47 with 13:34 to go. A steal and dunk by Munzon kept the Golden Eagles within 52-50 with 10 minutes left, but Northwest Nazarene responded with another run and opened up leads as large as 12 points.

The margin was still 10 at 76-66 before a Munzon layup and a 3-pointer by Zaid made it 76-71. Munzon then made a steal and layup to slice the margin to 76-73 with 34 seconds still ledt and a basket by Zaid kept it a one-possession game at 78-75 with 20 seconds left.
