LOS ANGELES – Cal State L.A.'s women's tennis team continued its impressive early-season start with a win over short-handed Concordia Wednesday at the CSULA Tennis Complex.
The Golden Eagles got wins in all seven matches that were contested and beat Concordia, 9-0. Concordia had only five players competing on Wednesday due to illness.
Cal State L.A. (4-0) trailed in the two doubles matches that were contested, but
Sonia Landeros and
Tiffany Leung rallied for an 8-6 win over Mona Piller and Ulrike Hahn at No. 1 doubles and
Victoria Vo and
Samantha Sismundo rallied for an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles over Ellie Johnson and Caitlyn Uzzi.
Leora Hemmerich came back from a 4-1 deficit in the second set to beat Piller at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 7-5, Landeros beat Hahn, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 2 singles,
Sydney Postal beat Johnson, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 3 singles,
Tiffani Shaik beat Uzzi, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 4 singles and Vo beat Kristen Lampe, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 6 singles.
Cal State L.A. will return to action on Monday, Feb. 24, with a match at UC San Diego beginning at 2 p.m.
