GLENDALE, AZ -- Cal State L.A.'s women's tennis team completed a successful three-day trip to Arizona with a pair of wins on Sunday.
The Golden Eagles beat Chaminade, 7-2, to start the day and then beat Hawaii-Hilo, 8-1, to finish it as they put the finishing touches on their four-matches in three-days road trip. Cal State L.A. (4-2) posted wins over Dixie State, Chaminade and Hawaii-Hilo and only lost to No. 2 BYU-Hawaii. All four matches were NCAA Division II contests
The Golden Eagles got a perfect performance from their doubles teams and captured all three doubles points in both matches.
Christie Lau and
Larn McShane at No. 1 doubles,
Leora Hemmerich and
Jill Sangria at No. 2 doubles and
Tiffany Leung and
Joyce Librando at No. 3 doubles recorded wins in both matches.
The Golden Eagles also did well in the singles matches, winning four of six against Chaminade and five of six against Hawaii-Hilo. Lau at No. 1 singles, Hemmerich at No. 3 singles, Sangria at No. 4 singles and Leung at No. 5 singles won both their matches in straight sets.
Maria Xavier got a win at No. 6 singles in the win over Hawaii-Hilo.
Cal State L.A. will return to action on Saturday with a home match against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
