Summary

Biography

2011-12: Contributed once again for the Golden Eagles in her second year with the program. Had an overall record of 2-5 in singles, including a 1-3 mark at No. 6 singles. Also had a 1-4 record in doubles, including a 1-2 mark at No. 3 doubles with Tiffany Leung. For her career, had a 2-6 record in singles, including a 1-4 mark in dual matches. Had a 1-4 record in doubles, including a 1-2 mark in dual matches. Had two points in dual matches in her career for the Golden Eagles.

2010-11: Made her tennis debut in 2011 after completing a brilliant four-year soccer career with the Golden Eagles. Competed at No. 6 singles in a dual match against Santa Monica College and lost in a third-set tiebreaker. Became Cal State L.A.’s first two-time All-American in women’s soccer in 2010 and earned the Billie Jean King Award as Cal State L.A.’s top female athlete for a second straight year. Also earned first-team All-CCAA and first-team All-West Region honors. Led Cal State L.A. to its first-ever conference championship in 2009 and to a second straight CCAA South Division title in 2010. Finished as the program’s all-time leader in points (104) and assists (40) and No. 2 in goals (32). Also set a new career assists record in the CCAA.
 
At El Camino High School: Played three years of varsity tennis and was the team’s Most Valuable Player and team captain as a senior. Was also the team’s Most Improved Player as a sophomore. Helped her team qualify for the CIF Tournament in 2007 for the first time in the school’s history. Was also a four-year varsity player in soccer. Earned first-team All-Avocado League honors as a junior and senior and second-team honors as a freshman and sophomore. Was the team Most Valuable Player as a senior, the Best Offensive Player as a junior and received the Coaches’ Award as a sophomore and freshman. Earned student-athlete honors award as a senior.
 
Personal:  Daughter of Juan Sanchez and Rosa Franco. Majoring in communications. Enjoys Sudoku, puzzles, hiking, cooking, working out, traveling, video games and watching movies. Lists being able to compete in two sports for Cal State L.A. and meeting amazing athletes in soccer and tennis as her most exciting experiences in sports. Says she thanks God and her brother and her sister for their support throughout her college career.
