IRVINE -- Cal State L.A.'s women's tennis team dropped a tight 5-4 decision to Concordia University of Irvine on Monday.
The Golden Eagles dropped two of the three doubles contests and could only split the six singles matches in a 5-4 loss to Concordia. Cal State L.A. (3-5) lost its third straight match, while Concordia (2-0) remained unbeaten.
The closest match of the day came at No. 1 doubles, where Cal State L.A.'s
Christie Lau and
Larn McShane dropped a 9-7 decision to Concordia's Bettina Radke and Kristin Yep. Cal State L.A.'s lone doubles points came at the No. 2 position from
Jillian Sangria and
Charlotte Spassoff, who beat Johanna Sceresini and Jordan Kimura, 8-4.
The Golden Eagles got singles wins from McShane, Sangria and Spassoff. McShane won at No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-0; Sangira won at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-3 and Spassoff won at No. 5 singles, 6-4, 6-4.
Cal State L.A. will return to action on Wednesday with a home match against UC San Diego.
