UC San Diego scored the next seven points and cut the deficit to 10-7 after a basket by Ryan. A 3-pointer by Lawley made it 18-13, but Cal State L.A. went on a 9-0 run to take a 14-point edge and control of the game. Five straight points by Fields capped the surge.
