Cal State LA Athletics

2012: Competed well for the Golden Eagles in her one year with the program. Had best times of 12.62 in the 100 meters, 26.07 in the 200, 17-11.50 in the long jump and 40-1.50 in the triple jump. Also had best marks of 8.06 in the 60, 25.88 in the 200, 17-00.50 in the long jump and 36-10.25 in the triple jump in indoor track and field. 

At Cerritos College: Won the state junior college triple jump championship in both her freshman and sophomore seasons. Earned All-America honors both years. Won the state title was a sophomore with a mark of 41-4; best mark in that event is 41-6.

At Lynwood High School: Won league championships in the long jump, triple jump and 200 meters three years in a row. Was the team’s Most Valuable Athlete three years in a row and is the school’s 200 record-holder. Was on the school’s Honor Roll. Also was part of a CIF championship team in girls basketball.

Personal: Daughter of Rickey Barfield and Roberta Smith. Majoring in art. Enjoys sketching, reading, cooking, researching medicine and sports cars. Lists breaking the triple jump record two years in a row and becoming state champion two years in a row as her most exciting experiences in sports. Says she plays basketball and draws  and likes to do things just to stay busy.
