Biography

2012: Had a second sensational season with the Golden Eagles to complete an outstanding two-year career with the program. Appeared in and started 18 games. Played a total of 1,331 minutes. Was second on the team with eight goals and seven assists for 23 points. Earned Daktronics All-America honorable mention and first-team All-West Region honors from Daktronics and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association Offensive Most Valuable Player and earned first-team All-Conference honors. Had two goals in a 2-1 win over Sonoma State on Oct. 21. Had game-winning goals in back-to-back games in a 3-0 win at Cal State Stanislaus on Sept. 9 and a 1-0 win over UC San Diego on Sept. 14. Had a goal and an assist in a 2-1 win over Cal Poly Pomona on Oct. 5. Had two assists in a 2-1 win over Northwest Nazarene on Sept. 1. Played all 220 minutes in two NCAA playoff games against Seattle Pacific on Nov. 8 and at Grand Canyon on Nov. 10. Named Cal State L.A.'s Exceptional Student-Athlete of the Year (male) for 2012-13. For his career, appeared in 41 games and started 41 times. Played a total of 2,659 minutes. Had 16 goals and 12 assists and 44 points.

2011: Had an outstanding first season with the Golden Eagles. Appeared and started all 23 games. Played a total of 1,328 minutes. Was third on the team in scoring with eight goals and five assists for a total of 21 points. Was sixth in the CCAA in points and tied for sixth in goals. Scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the second half of Cal State L.A.’s 3-2 win over Seattle Pacific in the NCAA Division II West Region championship match. Converted on a penalty kick in the shootout that enabled Cal State L.A. to advance past Chico State in a first-round NCAA playoff game after the teams battled to a 2-2 tie. Also scored a goal in Cal State L.A.’s 2-0 win over Chico State in the CCAA championship match on Nov. 6. Was named to the CCAA All-Tournament Team. Had an assist in the conference tournament opening win over Cal State Stanislaus on Nov. 4. Scored a pair of goals in a 4-2 win over Cal State San Bernardino on Sept. 23. Was named the CCAA Player of the Week for the week of Aug. 29-Sept. 4 after recording a goal and an assist in a 6-0 win against Saint Martin’s on Sept. 1 and adding the game-winning goal against Colorado Mesa on Sept. 3. Also had a goal in a 4-2 win at UC San Diego on Oct. 14 and had a goal and an assist in a 5-1 win at Cal State East Bay on Oct. 30.

At University of New Hampshire: Appeared in 11 games and had five starts in 2010. Selected as a member of the America East Academic Honor Roll in 2010. Saw action in four games in 2009 as a freshman. Made first collegiate start against Massachusetts on Sept. 11.

Personal: Son of Erkki and Liisa Arvola. Majoring in business administration. Enjoys snowboarding. Lists winning the Finnish Under-15 championship as his most exciting experience in sports. Also played against the Finnish Men’s Premier Division champions in the Finnish Cup and got called up for the U-17 national team camp.
