Biography

2012: Had a second outstanding season for the Golden Eagles and competed a sensational two-year career. Appeared and started in all 20 games and played 1,887 minutes. Had a 11-4-5 record with six shutouts. Allowed 22 goals and had a goals against average of 1.05. Made 59 saves and had a saves percentage of .728. Earned CoSIDA Academic All-America third team honors and a CCAA All-Academic Award. Made a season-high seven saves in a 1-1 tie against Seattle Pacific in a first-round NCAA playoff game. Led the Golden Eagles to the next round with a key stop in the shootout. Had five saves in the second-round game against Grand Canyon that also ended in a 1-1 tie. Had five saves in a 2-0 victory over Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sept. 16. For his career, appeared in 38 games with 38 starts. Played a total of 3,579 minutes. Had a career record of 23-5-10 with nine shutouts. Made 135 saves and had a saves percentage of .763. Had a career goals against average of 1.06. Ended his career fifth on the program's career list for goals against average and was eighth in saves.

2011: Had a tremendous first season for the Golden Eagles. Was outstanding during Cal State L.A.’s run in the postseason. Earned second-team Daktronics All-West Region honors and third-team NSCAA All-Region accolades. Had a record of 12-1-5 with three shutouts and 76 saves in 18 starts and a total of 1,692 minutes played. Was named to the CCAA Championships All-Tournament Team after blanking Chico State, 2-0, in the championship match with four saves on Nov. 6 and also posting four saves in a 2-1 win over Cal State Stanislaus in the first round on Nov. 4. Made two saves during regulation of a 2-2 tie with Chico State in the NCAA Division II playoffs on Nov. 10 and made a huge save on Chico State’s first penalty kick attempt in the shootout that Cal State L.A. won, 4-1, to advance. Made six saves in Cal State L.A.’s 3-2 win in the NCAA West Region title game. Recorded a season-high nine saves in a 1-1 tie at Cal Poly Pomona on Sept. 30. Also had seven saves in a 1-1 tie at Cal State San Bernardino on Oct. 17 and in the NCAA national quarterfinals at Ft. Lewis on Nov. 19. Was unbeaten (12-0-5) in first 17 starts for Cal State L.A. Earned a CCAA All-Academic Award.

At E.S.P. Omers-Deslauriers: Was on a team that won two conference championships in his three years on the team. Was the team Most Valuable Player as a senior and the team captain his final two seasons.

Personal: Son of Gabriel Cassis and Soumaya Maadarani. Majoring in exercise science. Enjoys training, music, video games and cooking. Lists competing for his club team Sao Carlos FC in the U-17 Paulista in Brazil as his most exciting experience in sports. Aspires to play professional soccer in Europe.
