Summary

Biography

2012: Had another outstanding season for the Golden Eagles and completed an impressive four-year career. Appeared in all 20 games and started 19 times. Played a total of 1,184 minutes. Had four assists for four points. Picked up his first assist on a goal by Rosario Bras in a 2-1 win over Cal State Monterey Bay on Sept. 23. Had another assist on a game-winning goal by Bras in a 1-0 win at UC San Diego on Oct. 12. Recorded his third assist on a goal by Luis Trujillo in the 10th minute of a 1-1 tie against Cal State San Bernardino on  Oct. 14. Got his final assist on the game-winning goal by Bras in the 85th minute of a 3-2 win at Cal Poly Pomona on Oct. 28. For his career, appeared in 63 games with 32 starts. Played a total of 2,706 minutes. Had one goal and five assists for seven points.

2011: Had another solid season for the Golden Eagles. Appeared in 13 games and started four times and provided Cal State L.A. with valuable experience and talent in the midfield. Played a total of 412 minutes. Started the first four games of the season before missing the next 10 games because of injury. Returned in a 3-0 win over San Francisco State on Oct. 21 and played in the final nine games of the season.
 
2010: Missed the first seven games of the season, but returned in time to play the final 10 contests for the Golden Eagles. Made nine starts. Played a total of 526 minutes. Finished with one goal and one assist. Scored the second goal in a 4-0 win over Cal State East Bay on Oct. 8 and added an assist on the final goal.
 
2009: Had a successful freshman season with the Golden Eagles. Appeared in 20 of the team’s 23 games and made a meaningful impact. Played a total of 584 minutes. Helped a defense that was one of the nation’s best. Team allowed only 17 goals in the 20 games he played in and allowed one or fewer goals in 17 contests, including eight shutouts. Had a pair of shots on goal in NCAA playoff game against Cal State San Bernardino on Nov. 13.
 
At Hilltop High School: Was a four-year starter on varsity and a senior captain. Was named the Rookie of the Year as a freshman and picked up the Iron-man Award as a sophomore. Earned first-team All-League honors three times. Competed in soccer, swimming and diving and cross country.
 
Personal: Son of Victor and Christine Vargas. Majoring in English. Enjoys yoga, writing, guitar and the beach. Lists the Surf Cup, Disney Showcase and the 2011 NCAA Tournament with Cal State L.A. as his most exciting experiences in sports.
