Cal State LA Athletics

2023-24: Had a sensational season for the Golden Eagles in his one year with the program. Started all 32 games for the Golden Eagles and played a total of 877 minutes. Averaged 13.7 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists. Led the team in scoring and was second in rebounding and fourth in assists. Also led the team in steals with 53. Earned second-team All-West Region honors from the D2 Conference Commissioners’ Association and also received first-team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors. Was the Most Valuable Player of the CCAA Tournament while leading the Golden Eagles to their first-ever tourney title. Had a season-high 26 points, five rebounds and five steals in an 81-80 win at Cal Poly Humboldt (2-24-24) and 25 points and eight rebounds in an 82-77 win at Chico State (2-26-24). Earned CCAA Player of the Week honors for the week of Feb. 19-25. Averaged 18.3 points and 4.3 rebounds in the three wins at the CCAA Tournament, including 19 points and nine rebounds in 73-62 championship game win over Cal State San Bernardino (3-9-24). Scored 20 or more points five times and reached double figures in scoring 26 times.

At San Francisco State: Earned second-team All-CCAA honors in 2022-23. Appeared in 29 games with a team-high 28 starts. Averaged a team-best 11.9 points per game and a team-high 6.2 rebounds per game. Led the team with six double-doubles and also led the team with 32 steals. Earned the team’s Gator of the Year and was a two-time Gator of the Week. Earned CCAA Player of the Week honors once. Scored a career-high 23 points in a Senior Day win over Cal State East Bay (2-25-23). Had success against Cal State LA, scoring 20 points in a loss in Los Angeles (12-10-22) and 18 points in a win in San Francisco (2-2-23). Appeared in 75 games for the Gators in his career with 47 starts. Averaged 9.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.

At Mount Eden High School: Earned first-team All-League honors as a senior, second-team honors as a junior and honorable mention as a sophomore.

Personal: Son of Innocent and Caroline Okeke. Majoring in Kinesiology. Enjoys video games, documenting life on camera, learning something new and reading. Lists starting conference 1-7, but winning 11 of the last 14 games to earn the No. 3 seed in the 2022-23 CCAA Tournament as his most exciting experience in sports. Notes he wants to pursue professional basketball.
