Cal State LA Athletics

2016: Concluded an outstanding four-year career for Cal State LA’s indoor team. Was second on the team in kills with 252 kills, 66 blocks and 310 points. Earned first-team All-California Collegiate Athletic Association honors for a second consecutive season. Was also third on the team in service aces with 20. Had a career-high 20 kills and three blocks in a five-set match against Cal State East Bay on Oct. 8. Also had 18 kills and a season-high eight blocks in a five-set match at Cal State San Bernardino on Oct. 21. Finished her Cal State LA indoor career with 337 blocks, which is No. 3 all-time on Cal State LA’s career list. She also finished with 303 block assists, which is also No. 3 all-time.

2015: Had a sensational junior season for the Golden Eagles and earned American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America honorable mention recognition. Also received AVCA All-Region honorable mention and first-team All-CCAA honors for the first time. Was second on the team in kills with 252 and led the team in blocks with 78 despite missing three matches late in the season because of injury. Was also second on the team in service aces with 23. Had a season-high 17 kills and three blocks in a five-set win at Cal State Dominguez Hills on Oct. 16. Reached double figures in kills 11 times. Had a season-high seven blocks to go along with 11 kills against Sonoma State on Nov. 7. Recorded a career-high six service aces in a win against Dixie State on Sept. 4.

2014: Had a second impressive season for the Golden Eagles. Led the team for a second straight year in blocks with 85. Was fourth on the team in kills with 190 and fourth in points with 257. Recorded a season-high 16 kills and three blocks in a four-set win over San Francisco State on Sept. 13. Had a career-high 10 blocks in a five-set win over Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sept. 30. Reached double figures in kills seven times, including four of the last six matches.

2013: Had an outstanding freshman season for the Golden Eagles. Led the team with 108 blocks. That total ranks ninth on Cal State L.A.’s all-time single-season list. Also led the team with 99 block assists, which is tied for third all-time. Was fourth on the team in kills with 200 and fourth in points with 277.5. Had a season-high eight blocks in five-set match against San Francisco State on Sept. 27.Recorded a season-high 14 kills in a five-set match against Seattle Pacific on Sept. 13. Reached double figures in kills six times.

At Buchanan High School: Was the team’s Most Valuable Player as a senior and earned first-team All-League and first-team All-County honors. Was a team captain as a junior and senior and was the team’s Most Inspirational Player as a senior. Made the school’s Honor Roll all four years in high school. Is a California Scholarship Federation Lifetime Member. Competed in volleyball, badminton and basketball.

Personal: Daughter of Ken Rivera and Marcie Bero-Rivera. Majoring in communications. Enjoys traveling, crafting, spending time with friends and family, shopping and going to Chipotle. Lists winning a badminton valley championship as her most exciting experience in sports. Wanted to give a shout-out to bestie Lauren Gomez.
